4 YEARS OF REAL WEAR
Made to Last
What LUKS look like after 4 years of wear
Almost every pair of shoes looks beautiful when it's brand new. What tells you much more about its quality is how it looks after years of actual wear.
A REAL CUSTOMER PAIR
This is what four-year-old LUKS look like
Recently, one of our customers sent her LUKS back to our workshop to have a zip repaired. By then, she had been wearing them for four years.
When we unpacked them, we couldn't have been happier with what we saw.
These aren't new shoes styled for a photoshoot. They're a real customer's boots after four years of wear. And they're a rather lovely example of why we're so particular about the materials we use and the way we make our shoes.
The leather after 4 years
The leather uppers are still in remarkably good condition. Over the years, the leather has developed a beautiful natural patina and plenty of character while remaining strong and perfectly wearable.
The sole after 4 years
Even after four years, the tread is still remarkably well preserved.
For us, that's what quality is really about.
WHAT QUALITY REALLY MEANS
Not simply how a pair of shoes looks on the day it leaves our workshop, but how it looks and performs years later.
MATERIALS THAT AGE BEAUTIFULLY
Good leather doesn't simply get older. It develops character.
We make our shoes using high-quality full-grain cowhide leather, preserving the natural character of the hide rather than heavily correcting its surface.
And one of the lovely things about good natural leather is the way it ages.
With wear, it gradually softens, moulds to your feet and develops its own unique patina. Subtle variations in colour, creases and marks become part of the story of the shoes.
No two well-worn pairs will ever look quite the same.
The boots in these photographs are a wonderful example of what quality leather can look like after several years of real life.

MADE WITH REPAIRABILITY IN MIND
Shoes shouldn't be disposable
We don't believe a good pair of shoes should become rubbish simply because one part eventually wears out.
That's why we make LUKS with longevity and repairability in mind.
A broken zip doesn't necessarily mean the end of your boots. If we can repair it, we will.

A NEW LEASE OF LIFE
Worn through your soles? Your LUKS can keep going.
If the leather upper is still in good condition, the old sole can be removed and replaced with a new one.
Instead of throwing away a pair of shoes you've spent years breaking in and making your own, you can give them a new lease of life.
It's one of the reasons we believe in using quality materials and making our shoes by hand in our small family workshop.
We want our shoes to be worth repairing.
NEW SOLE. SAME FAVOURITE SHOES.
THE VALUE OF LONGEVITY
The price of a pair. The value of years of wear.
Quality materials and handmade production cost more. But when choosing a pair of shoes, we think there's another question worth asking besides “How much do they cost?”
“How long will I be able to wear them?”
A pair you can wear for years, repair and even resole when necessary is very different from a pair destined for the bin after a season or two.
These four-year-old LUKS tell that story better than we ever could.
Because the best proof of quality isn't a brand-new pair of shoes. It's a well-loved pair with years behind them and plenty of life still ahead.
